The Team

The PersonnelPlus team is comprised of highly experienced members who serve the Athens County Board of Developmental Disabilities by assisting individuals in finding, securing, and maintaining employment throughout Athens County. It is their mission to diversify the business community and enhance the lives of the individuals they serve.

Doug Mitchell, Employment Options Director

 Doug is the Employment Options Director for the Athens County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Doug recently returned to the Athens County Board of Developmental Disabilities from a position with the Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Before going to Fairfield County, Doug worked for nearly 14 years in the field of community employment in Athens County, spending nine years as the Director of PersonnelPlus Employment Services. Doug helped reshape the organization to become a leading community employment program in Ohio by making it more business focused and offering a variety of training and         employment services for workers with disabilities.

In 2013, Doug took a position with the Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities as the Manager of JobFusion.  Doug’s oversight included training and employment services, as well as special training programs such as; Project SEARCH at Fairfield Medical Center, Project SEARCH at Designer Shoe Warhouse (DSW) in Columbus, and Project SEARCH DiscoverU in the River Valley Mall in Lancaster, Ohio.

Doug’s work in the DD field has been recognized on both a state and national level by the Association of People Supporting Employment First. Doug is involved with the Governor’s Employment First Initiative and is the 2015-2016 APSE Vice President for Ohio. Doug graduated from Ohio University with a B.A. Degree in Political Science with an emphasis in Public Administration.

Karen joined the PersonnelPlus team in July 2008.

Karen is a graduate of Athens High school, attended Hocking College and has more than 25 years of secretarial and customer service experience.   Karen has an extensive background in working with people from diverse backgrounds. Previous to coming to PersonnelPlus, Karen worked for Athens County Children Services, Peoples Bank, and Ohio University.

Karen is an Athens County native, an active member of her church where she holds the offices of Elder and Records Manager.  Karen is also a huge animal lover, has five animals of her own and loves to do dog grooming in her spare time.  Karen is a big sports fan, especially when her children are playing.

Jona Moberg-2Jona Moberg, Job Developer

Jona attended High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico and attended The University of New Mexico and received a degree in History from Ohio University in 2013.  For the last 19 years, Jona was a homemaker, volunteer and college student.  She worked with numerous organizations including  The Plains Elementary PTO, Athens High School Boosters and Factory Street Dance Studio.  Jona also volunteered as a Survivor Advocacy and completed training to support survivors of sexual assault and identify victims of Human Trafficking.

The last several years Jona substitute taught for Athens City Schools. Prior to having children, she worked in several government positions including Deputy Clerk of Courts for the City of Lorain and as a scheduler for Sherrod Brown in the district office when he was in Congress.

Jona is married to Chris Moberg a Marketing Professor at Ohio University and has a son Kevin who is a freshman at Ohio University and a daughter Claire who is a freshman at Athens High School.

Jona enjoys attending sporting events, particularly football and basketball games, reading and watching history programs on TV. Jona also enjoys walking outdoors, traveling to visit family and friends all over the country, concerts, plays and other live performances and really loves going to museums, historical monuments and art galleries.

 

Heather Clemons, Training Coordinator

Heather is a lifelong Athenian, a graduate of Athens High School and Hocking College where she received her degree in nursing. Heather previously worked for Planned Parent Hood as the Health Center Manager in Athens. Heather has also been the assistant cheerleading coach for Athens High School for the past four years. Heather is very active in the community and helps run the Athens Bulldog Blitz concessions and Athens Sand Lot concessions.

Heather and her husband have three daughters.  Heather spends a lot of time traveling not only around Ohio but to other states for her daughters’ cheer competitions and sports tournaments.  Heather loves going to the beach and traveling.

JulieJulie Jones, Employment Support Coordinator

Julie began working for PersonnelPlus in December of 2013 as a Job Trainer.  Due to Julie’s experience and connections with the community and Athens County, in December of 2014 Julie was chosen for the Internship Coordinator.

Julie holds a Bachelors Degree of Science in Recreation Studies from Ohio University.  She also holds a certificate for Equine Assisted Psychotherapy/Equine-Assisted Learning.

Prior to working with PesonnelPlus, Julie worked as a horse handler/lesson assistant, a private equine riding instructor/trainer/clinician, a barn manager, a substitute instructor at Ohio University and an office manager.

Julie and her family reside in Athens County.  In her spare time, Julie works with Windy Hills Therapeutic Riding Center as a horse handler and lesson assistant for people with disabilities.  She also spends time as a class assistant and is involved with her women’s ministry leadership team.

Celeste Salzman, Lead Trainer

Celeste has been with the Atco community employment program for 21 years. Celeste works as a PersonnelPlus Job Trainer, and is exceptional at adaptive measures in the workplace for individuals with disabilities.

In 2000 Celeste received the APSE Professional of the Year award for the State of Ohio as well as nationally.  Celeste was the ARC president for 20 years and was involved with the Japanese Exchange Program.

Celeste is a graduate from Cleveland Cuyahoga Community College, International School of Business Machines and Get Set OSU.

Celeste and husband have four children and reside in Athens.
